à Paris
I have always been particularly drawn to the metropolis of Paris. A short stay there during my student days made me realize I could indeed live longer in this city. In 1985 my dream came true: a year in Paris as a language student, night porter and assistant to fashion photographers. And then a decade later a second stint, this time a longer stay lasting two years (1994-95). This resulted in the chance to be involved in various photographic works with Stern and Focus magazines.
A fascinating city with flair, plenty of culture and world events. A tireless, intoxicating ball of energy that is in constant motion day and night, both above and below the earth’s surface.
The black and white photographs that can be seen under the motto “à Paris” are intended to capture the light of this energy ball, city life and scenes from the streets, metro and cafés as well as the architecture which lies at the intersection between traditional and ultramodern – highlights from endless city walks together with my camera.
